Cargo Sales Executive

The position of Cargo Sales Executive is central to strengthening cargo revenue streams and expanding market presence. This role focuses on promoting and selling dnata’s cargo products and services to small and medium-sized freight forwarders and cargo agents. The objective is to maximize freight revenues for contracted airlines, increase sales commissions for Cargo Partners, and expand market penetration. Positioning Cargo Partners as a leading General Sales and Service Agent (GSSA) within the region remains a key priority.

Strategic planning forms a core responsibility within this role. Annual sales targets must be carefully developed and recommended to management based on thorough market analysis. Demand trends, competitor activity, pricing movements, and structured feedback from freight agents and exporters all contribute to the creation of a comprehensive promotional action plan. Careful evaluation of seasonal fluctuations and emerging trade lanes allows for proactive targeting of new business opportunities and revenue growth.

Leadership is equally important. Regular safety briefings must be conducted to ensure awareness of operational risks and regulatory requirements. When risk exposure is identified, immediate intervention and corrective action are required. Acting as a role model for safe behavior helps cultivate a culture of accountability and compliance. Oversight of a small team of direct reports ensures that assigned responsibilities are completed efficiently and according to established operational procedures. Guidance, supervision, and performance monitoring are essential to maintaining consistent standards.

Execution of daily responsibilities requires strict adherence to safety, quality, and environmental management policies. Maintaining a healthy and secure work environment protects both personnel and operational assets. Ensuring that staff members possess the necessary knowledge, skills, and confidence to perform duties safely is a continuous priority. Providing direction, reinforcing safe behaviors, and leading by example contribute to strong operational discipline.

Daily operations include managing cargo sales activities in alignment with company standards and airline agreements. Continuous improvement initiatives play an important role in enhancing systems, refining processes, reducing costs, and improving productivity. Identification of inefficiencies or missed opportunities allows for the development of corrective measures that strengthen overall performance.

Customer engagement remains a cornerstone of success. Meetings and joint sales calls with airline representatives ensure that targeted customers are regularly contacted and that commercial objectives are met. The “basket airlines approach” introduces clients to a diverse range of transport solutions, encouraging utilization of multiple airline options. This strategy supports the development of freighter services capable of handling large, ad hoc export volumes, thereby strengthening cargo capacity offerings in the market.

Close coordination with internal sales support and operational teams is critical. Sales leads must be captured efficiently, and updates regarding airline rates, commission structures, Air Waybill instructions, flight schedules, tariffs, and available capacity must be communicated accurately. This ensures reliable brokerage of information for cargo bookings and quotations. Precision in documentation and communication directly influences customer trust and repeat business.

Market intelligence gathering supports strategic growth. Analysis of competitor airline activities and evolving trade patterns allows for well-informed recommendations to Cargo Partner management and principal airlines. Counter-activities and targeted promotional efforts can then be introduced to safeguard and expand market share.

Comprehensive statistical reporting is required, covering cargo volumes, revenue generation, yield performance, and seasonal variations within the assigned customer portfolio. Business performance reviews help assess profitability and growth potential. Credit limit recommendations are developed after careful financial evaluation of customer accounts. Lost sales opportunities must also be examined thoroughly to identify root causes and implement timely corrective strategies.

Strong professional relationships with principal airlines are essential. Regular communication ensures that schedule changes, operational updates, and procedural adjustments are disseminated efficiently. Meeting airline requirements promptly reinforces credibility and strengthens long-term partnerships.

Eligibility for this role requires completion of secondary education equivalent to twelve years of schooling, along with four to six years of experience in logistics or air cargo operations. A valid UAE driving license is mandatory. Comprehensive knowledge of general airfreight, cargo handling, and load processing within an international airline ground handling environment is expected. Proficiency in information technology systems and computer literacy supports efficient reporting and coordination. Strong English language skills, effective communication abilities, negotiation expertise, professional writing capability, and high safety awareness are critical attributes.

Dnata’s ground services keep global aviation operating smoothly. As one of the largest air services providers worldwide, operations extend across more than 80 countries, delivering expertise in ground handling, cargo management, travel services, and flight catering. Continued growth creates opportunities for talented and creative professionals to contribute to a workforce exceeding 40,000 employees.

Based in Dubai, this position offers an attractive tax-free salary along with industry-exclusive travel benefits, including discounts on flights and hotel stays worldwide. Dubai provides a dynamic, fast-paced, and cosmopolitan environment that blends cultural diversity with professional opportunity, making it an exciting destination for career advancement in aviation and logistics.
